A quick help with a mpg calculation please.

  1. We did 193 miles on 1 tank of petrol back from Cornwall.

I'm unsure of the size of the tank so can't work out what I was getting.

    Cheers

    56 litres or 12 gallons = 17.5 mpg roughly -- use a lighter right boot dude ;)

just looked in my book (usa) 14.6 us gallons 12.1 imperial gallons 55 metric litres

  9. My camper van has a 1.6 tp engine in and averages about 23mpg, my split pick up which has a 2.0 type 4 engine in does about 27mpg.
My new beetle cab does about 33mpg on a good day, so it's nearly better to drive the pickup.

I'm sure it wasn't 17ish. Fill it up now and then work it out:

Miles times by Litres divide by 4.54

actually i'm gonna fill and do a test on the blackpool run, i only usually stay local at the moment and my petrol cap don't lock so i usually chuck £20 in here and there.....but i need mine tuning i'm led to belive it's running hot due to being set to lean....you don't get this fart about with diesels....

  16.
  17. Found i get better economy since i fitted a pertronix ignitor, just redone aservice of new plugs and a air filter, and dizzy cap, and reset timimg,
Think the tappets need doing, but im sure i was getting a extra mpg, average about 25,
i put a pertronix in because the lobe on dizzy was worn. pionts would be measuring different on each corner,

You can't base mpg calcs on "1 tank".
You need to brim it, run it down, brim it again ideally at the same pump, then work it out.
