When you / if you want to change your engine to a porche lol larger cc different type or other ,who do you tell ?? and if you have a classic insurance will they insure it and how much more is it ?? I understand it has to be legal.Examples of peeps who have done this would be good cheers . Barney
DVAL for one as the log book will require the new engine number. Insurance for another with maybe an engineers inspection
Well when insured the pick up with a 2.0 type 4 engine in, think the original engine was only a small one, the insurance company asked if it had been modified I told them as best a s I could, not doing the mods myself it's hard to know what's been done, they wernt that worried about the engine, he told me they only really worry when it's a non air cooled engine eg a scooby one.
DVLA informed of change to 2700cc engine. Insurers informed - no change to premium. Currently insured wth Performance Direct for less than £120 a year Hope this helps...
Im only testing water here guys ,i just wondered as i thought with classic insurance it was meant to be as original ?? and i wondered how insurance companys reacted to increase in power etc with campers?? even adding twin carbs is a mod and so on. Keep them coming im interested.
when isured the bug i told em it was modified they said what you had done ? i said twin carbs modded exhaust they told me thats not modified so that’ll do for me !
The sign writing on my work van is classed as a mod , when some fool ran in to me my insurance company were going to dismiss my claim because i hadn't told them of the signwriting mod
Before I committed to the Subaru conversion I asked my insurance company. They told me there would be no change in premium but I'd need to tell them. I'll get the V5C changed as well when it's done.
cherished asked me if i had a scooby engine when i said i was 2 litre fuel injected, i said no, he said good so i presume they increase premiums if you go scooby.
so as my v5 engine no. does not match the one on the engine block ...vege recon by po, i will have to send it off to dvla?will i have to explain this does any of you guys know?
