The lovely bespoke interior in Lizzie Lou has a lovely bespoke space for the gas that will only take Campingaz 904 or 907 bottles . Notwithstanding the fact that I can't travel to South Yorkshire at the moment, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced supplier in the Sheffield-Chesterfield area? Part of the challenge is that I don't have a Campingaz bottle to swap, only a spare empty 15kg Calor butane, so that's another deposit to pay
Check out eBay, you occasionally get people selling the 904/907 bottles . If you really NEED a bottle sharpish then expect to pay about 30 quid non-refundable deposit plus £30 for the gas . @Merlincat or @paulcalf may be able to point you in the right direction for a supplier ? I got my last refill from Swallownest Caravans if I remember rightly but it west a refill. I'll ask around to see if anyone has any empty they don't want.
@docjohn we change ours at Go Outdoors nr Sheffield Utd. We check first tho as don’t always have them in. There’s a Go Outdoors in Chesterfield on the retail park near B&Q etc. ive also swapped one at a place on Whittington Moor but can’t remember what is was called. I think I googled Calor Gas even tho ours was a blue camping gaz. if you want to borrow one for now I’ve got one in my garage.
Go Outdoors nr Bramall lane as Merlin cat says They are sometimes out of stock in Summer but should be ok at the moment. If you’re north Sheffield try Towsure nr Hillsborough corner.
@docjohn Alex beat me to it but Gas & Hire on Whittington moor should be able to sort you out. Assuming they’re classed as essential, not sure on that one...
Google says refills are about £35 , so this on Ebay seems a "bargain". Sent from my SM-J330FN using Tapatalk
Any Calor Gas supplier should have those very lucrative small bottles of Camping Gaz. So for instance our local farm shop/plant nursery sells them. Best off is to get two bottles, fill one now, go to Techenders for refills as the prices there are better. In the long run it will be cheaper to redesign your gas storage and use the larger bottles, if you find that your camping needs that much gas. As our Devon can fit two small Camping Gaz or one Calor, I prefer having a spare when the gas runs out even if it is very expensive.
I was in the same situation as you a few years back. @Dicky kindly gave me a camping gaz bottle for the exchange. Then go outdoors took my pants down for about £35 - camping gaz is more expensive for less You may find someone on here has a spare empty bottle you can have. Some tips even have empty bottles you can help yourself to. Have a look in peoples garages/sheds etc there are old bottles everywhere. In fact i may possibly be able to get you one from a relatives garage if you can wait a week or two
Thanks @paulcalf , no rush but if you do come across one, I'll have it. I'm getting one from @scrooge95 but as @mikedjames said, it's worth having a spare.
Thank you @Merlin Cat, that's a very kind offer. I'm not in a tearing rush as the only option at the moment is camping on the drive!
I modified my gas storage cupboard ( I think the.posh term is that it's now "bespoke " ,) to fit a Flow gas bottle...think I paid £18 for my last 6,?kg one.
