take hall rad off and clean it out yourself, that much crap on magnaflow means there is crap in the system. 799 for power flush!!!!! holy ***** TRV's are easy to get working again with a bit of elbow grease and a flat head screwdriver personally if you have time, i would take 1 rad off at a time and clean it out with a garden hose. Then once they are all done fill and drain the system a couple of times, then fill the system with the right cleaner for the magnaflow senetinel.....(cant remember what is in mine)
How big is the hall rad? If it’s really crapped up and not too big I’d be tempted to just put a new one in That is one of the worst filters I’ve seen! I’ve just quoted a woman £300 to power flush!
Have you got any plastic piping to hall rad? I recently could not get a bedroom rad to heat up, took it off, flushed it, changed the valves. Without removing all bedroom furniture I couldn’t get much carpet back but traced to tee at top of the stairs. Someone had used a length of Hepworth none barrier pipe and about a foot of it was solid with crap. I cut it out, replaced with copper and all hunky dory
That filters not that bad. One dodgy radiator does not equal the need for a power flush. as a general rule, ignore any advice given to you by a British Gas engineer. Funny how he just happened to have a convenient pipe on the van to scare you with.
Be very careful what cleanser you put in your system. If your boilers got an alloy heat exchanger you’ll kill it. I think all the vaillants have stainless giannoni heat ex in them now but double check or use something like adey mc3.
Here’s one we cut out on Monday. This is the cold feed. Funny enough the system was struggling to fill after we drained it.
Mc3 isn’t anywhere near as aggressive so it’s perfect for systems that need a bit of a sparkle but not the full on aggression of other chemicals. Plus although you really should try to completely flush the system once you’ve used it, it doesn’t need a neutraliser unlike say fx2, which will murder your system if you leave it in.
