FOR SALE 79 mexico magnolia tin top Riviera camper SOLD

  1. I have a Mexico Beige 1979 Riviera tin-top camper for sale with all documentation since new! Even the original sales papers. Another cool addition is a copy of a letter sent from the original owner to the Mel Winter dealer thanking them for the good service, and a letter back from the dealer stating they would proudly display the letter in there showroom!

The original owner who had been a great friend of ours & regular customer at our shop for the last 15+ years, recently passed away at 84 years old. He is the reason this bus is in such immaculate condition for it's age, and he is greatly missed. We were able to purchase the bus from the family, and now would like it to go to a good home where it can be well cared for and garaged.

The bus is very clean & original, and rust free. It was special ordered as a tin top to fit into the garage. It was built on November 6th 1978, and shipped to Riviera for the camper conversion "Traveler Package". Then it was completed to the owners specifications & shipped to California where the bus lived for quite some time. Eventually he moved to Oregon, and the bus received an exterior paint job of the factory color due to some minor chips & scratches. The owner was very particular about his bus & had anything fixed as soon as it needed anything.

The buses interior is like new & barely ever used, definitely not for any serious camping trips. I don't imagine a 50 year old man that bought the bus new in '79 ever doing any real harm to the bus especially after investing over $10,000 into purchasing it. This bus lived a nice easy life! The 2.0 GE engine & 6-rib gearbox has only seen 104k documented miles!

Since i have purchased the bus i have only done a few things that needed attention such as, replaced all 4 brake flex hoses, put new ATE wheel cylinders in the rear, new brake shoes in the rear, and i also cleaned up the engine compartment & installed a new foam engine seal. The tires are in great shape, 8 ply Nankang LT's. The bus runs, drives & stops like new, and the one downfall in my opinion is that it was converted to dual carbs from the original fuel injection. I have all the parts & may eventually convert it back to fuel injection.

Overall, the bus is just a real nice maintained unit, and is ready to drive, and enjoy. Clear title, tagged, registered, and road ready! I really hate to sell it, but when it comes next winter i'm not sure if i will have a dry place for it, but i do intend to drive/enjoy it this summer if it doesn't sell right away. Let me know if you have any questions & i can send as many pics & info. as you'd like. Here is your chance to own a nice rare tin-top Rivi, and no welding or dirty work needed!

Here is a short video of the bus driving

  4. Thanks Lord Congi, it's a very fun bus to own! As with many of my other past buses, i will be sad to see this one go.

  5. I got rid of the pesky carbs, and converted the bus back to fuel injection, runs so much smoother now :) Installed all new injectors, new intake sleeves, replaced all the tin hardware, and cleaned all the engine tin, new oil cooler seals, and rubber dipstick boot also. Time too go camping!

  7. Been cleaning up the bus, scrubbed the front floor clean, and pulled the front pan & cleaned up in there. Pulled off the rear bumper & blasted it out (was full of dirt). Got the bus ready to accept a westy tow bar that should be on it's way shortly :)
