76 Front Seat Resto

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by David Roberts, May 3, 2015.

  1. Well I decided to restore my front seats and add a little extra padding with new seat covers, this is what I did.

Stripped the old seats of the runners and the rear, removed the covers so all I had was the frame. 20150503_103449.jpg

Then I cut the old seat cover to use as padding on the springs.

I then decided to add 1 inch of foam.

on top of that I placed the seat pad.

I decided to add further foam on top of the pad to make sure I was comfortable.

so here you can see my seat sandwich.

so 1 inch of foam then the seat pad on top.

The foam on the backs was good so I only replaced the seat covers and this is what they look like finished. 20150503_135144.jpg

top work, next on my list as both seats and backs are shot.

  3. You will need some hog ring pliers for the backs and put some plastic (carrier bag) over the top and sides of the backs to help the seat cover slide over or else it will just not go.
