71 sliding door

  1. Any idea why it’s suddenly stopped closing? Can’t shut it from the inside and can only close it pushing at the mid hinge. Not the end of the world but a little annoying

Inside and outside locking mechs are separate - could be inside one is in locked position?

From a cam in the rear mechanism breaking in two causing the rear hinge to go out of "sync" to needing more lubrication on the various mechanisms, or a striker plate moving after a lot of slamming.

Yep, so many cams and hooks and castings to break. :(

Mine was fixed easily when a guy said"give us a 5mm Allen key" he then moved the plate a little at the back of the door, on the bus.
Hey presto worked better than ever.

Here's another easy test for you to do.
If, as you close the door (in slow motion) and the rear starts to swing in, you can roll it back on the middle hinge, either a hook on the hinge is broken, or more commonly the casting hiding under the side cover that it hooks on has broken. Another sign of that is the rear catch on the door chipping the paint or even denting the seal channel on it's way in.
