  1. a local lad had lilled himself and for nearly 8 weeks his family and friends a local FOYLE SEARCH AND RESCUE searched for him , they just wanted the body back , so a team for CORK , came in specialist divers , and where using side scan sonar , when the sub raised its head , then the mystery began , no one reprorted a missing sub , first they thought it was one of the britsih x class , but the powers of B in ports mouth came back and said they didn t own it and where scratching there heads , then a picture was found showing 48 german subs that had surrendered at the end of the war into derry , as it was the most northernly port in europe and the brits americans where based there , and the raf bomer command searching sub s etc , and in the pic found showed a small x type german sub tied up along side the rest , but no one knew any thing about it ,

this is where my part of the story came in ,
i was part of a german reanactment group , DIE GRUPPE ,
while at an even t in portrush 6 years ago a man walked up to me with a tesco s bag, full of bits ,
as soon as i seen in side i knew straight a way what he had ,
he had dials and gauges from a geramn sub but whick one , and where did he get them .
he asked if they where they worth any thing , i said to the right man 200 to 400 pounds ,
to this he said i thought theyd be worth more ,
yes they could be BUT , to the right man a lot more ,
so we got talkng and he tells me his granddad was one of the fitters in dupount that was used to stripp the german subs of any thing valueable and to learn and steel the german technolgy , all top secret , so he stole some stuff to keep ,
we got into a deep decussion about the subs and about me visting the geramn subb u534 in berkinhead , he also told me some thing which i listened to with geat interest but thought no way i would of heard of that , ?????????

in jan this year i spoke to sean gallagher a local councillor who is trying to get the geram subb u772 ithink up of the sea bed of malin head , she was being toed in to derry but sunk and is sitting on a gravel sea bed and should make it easy to recover , but its to expensive and needs permisson from lots of different countries , so i telll sean of the man in portrush and his grand father stripping the subbs , it was then i told sean the story his grand father told the boy that a german sub lay in the silt in the foyle , but no one was to no about it , as it wasn t deemed im portant , or so the story wen t .
no way says sean iwould haven known about it ,
    3 months later ,
    it was found ,
i was delighted to hear this a reminded sean about out talk , lol
so the story unravels , owen nw
