This year, zero miles, zero oil, but engine pretty much back together again Next year, booked in with a tin worm doctor
Very few personal trips but my lad used it to go camping a couple of times. The real reason is it has been undergoing a rolling resto which has been a bit of a logistical to and fro as I have to keep it on his drive 15 miles away as I have the LT and three other cars on my driveway it would fit too but I have to manoeuvre too many cars each time we want to go out. So this year I have replaced sills, outriggers and a jacking point and painted it while all the time bringing it back and forward from my lad’s to mine. It is painted and looks shiny now but there’s a few bits of filler I’d like to redo and I’ll probably flat it all and rent somewhere to respray it later this spring, but the progress has been immense. The interior is also getting a a revamp at some point with a custom build around a westfalia full width bed although the present interior is adequate. Then just a month ago after a walk up snowdon my left leg got a blockage ( I have peripheral vascular disease which is why I walk mountains a lot exercise is the key to keep the circulation going ) and I was rushed into hospital to save the leg and emergency treatment to avoid an imminent heart attack. After a couple of days they let me out without taking my leg off but life has changed for me, the leg is still very painful and the cold is the new enemy I spend my days keeping it warm and walking very little. It seems I have to wait for more scans and find another way forward. I am going to give my lad the bay, sell the LT and holiday as I have this year in hotels. My dub days may be refined to tinkering on someone else’s bay and looking at old pictures of some great days in Vw’s that I once used as daily’s when they were newer and latterly as an hobby and restoration projects that kept my mind off everyday life. My plan is to keep myself fit enough to avoid any heart issues, hopefully get the leg feeling better and finish Neil’s van. I’m going out to the theatre and Will’s 20th birthday meal with them all today I have a buddy seat I bought off Duncan in my car that I’m going to give him today along with the ownership form. It’s certainly been a journey this year but more for me than the van and I’m going to miss mountain walking as much as the Bay. On an happier note I have finally renovated the cottage my tenant absolutely wrecked during covid and it’s taken me all year to do it, and I have you lot to make me laugh!
Thanks, there’s not much to say really that’s life and things happen, it was first diagnosed in 2008 and I changed my lifestyle to avoid this happening but after 14 years it took a downturn and I have to deal with it. I have a lot of love and support around me so with their help and the NHS ( who have been brilliant so far) I should be able to make slow and steady improvement, hopefully.
What a rollercoaster ride , wishing you happier times ahead and loving your positive outlook on life changing experiences Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
