  1. I know everyone says this, but it really is with deeeeeep regret owing to life sucking and private health care costing a fugglin' fortune and the NHS not giving a hoot, that I must sell my beloved Mexi "Zombie".

Bought in 2006 in completely standard guise as a mint 1 owner car, Zombie has evolved over my years of ownership into the look my wife termed the "Bat Look". Lots of deep lustrey gloss black, chrome and red detailing all done DIY with a few decals collected along the way. She's a head turner, for anyone who's ever heard one of these 1600 injection jobs you'll know the TVR-esque burble they produce is damned addictive. Heaps of torque, surprisingly quick off the mark and able to hold it with the modern stuff on motorways no probs.

She's got 31k miles under her belt, so whilst she's in overall lovely condition there are stone chips and a bit of the rusty stuff is creeping in behind the paint in a couple of areas on the bodywork. She's still stunning though - 2.5in dropped spindles up front with 1 spline and adjustable spring plates on the rear. Starts on the button, idles like a dream and being FI is actually reasonably fuel efficient.

Every MOT has been passed with no hassle at all, though sadly we lost the service history in the floods of 2007 so I've got very little to show in terms of her life until now.

She'll be sold with a fresh ticket for offers around the asking price, open to lower offers if you're not fussed about having the MOT and want a quick deal. Currently on SORN and in dry storage but will be coming out this week as I can no longer afford the bill.

She's viewable just outside Hereford and if I can swing it I'll be taking her to the Dubstock show in Leominster in the week.

To pay the medical bill I need as close to £5.5k as possible. I've lost touch with the market but a slightly skanky late 1300 Mexican in standard trim was being offered in Shrewsbury for £5750 last month so I'm punting around that figure.

The front plate in the photo's is my show plate - it has fallen off the car all over the country and I've always found it again slightly more battered than before. It was illegal then, it's even more illegal now so the proper yellow and black job will of course be supplied.

The Odometer reads in km's on Mexicans so 50k km seen in the photo is around 31k miles.

    So, in brief:
    2003 1600i Mexican Beetle
Will have 12 months MOT for offers around asking price.
No Tax as the DVLA decided to screw that up for everyone
    Offers around £5.5k

  2. Hmm..no TLB love for the Zombie huh. It'll stop here until the weekend before hitting the usual online suspects - open to offers folks it has got to go!

a quick e-bay search shows for the age of it your price is probably ok, that said the ratty look probably puts people off, there's a couple of nice looking ones a bit older on ebay but a fair bit cheaper. How much is the tax on a 2003 one compared to a pre 2001?

  4. Yeah you need to see it to appreciate it's far from actual ratty in the flesh as I'm a fan of the shiney. Its more hot rod I would say but I can see how the pics might not portray the difference too well. Tax is £126.50 for 6 months. Same as any other similar sized petrol job of its age. It's worth it for the noise and grin factor alone!

by ratty i meant non standard - apologies hope you sell it.

  6. Hey no don't apologise, you raised a good point which I hadn't considered! I think I need to adjust the write up to appeal more to the masses as you rightly point out, she's far from standard.

Cheers for your input chap :)
