  1. That looks good, but I liked the home made one from the previous keeper too !!!
Shame your half way round the world, or I'd have had that off you!!!

Vanagon was a nice find too!!

  2. Thanks, the previous owner did a good job. But the fridge wasn't working, and is only a 12V/propane model. The Vanagon is 110V/12V/Propane. Id rather be able to plug it in than run the propane while camping. Also like this propane stove better as the other one just looked like a camping stove placed in there, as opposed to being part of it. I think once I get this all done it will look more like factory than before, and be more functional.

  5. Thanks guys, The Colonel has come a long way and still lots more to go. I have two weeks home over Christmas holidays, so hopefully I can find some time to get a few more things done with the bus.

  6. To celebrate 10,000 views on my thread on my local car forum, I did some comparison pics of the Colonel. Showing some of the change from 2010 to now.

  7. The only thing this thread needs is more pictures. Got home for the holidays so had to pull the bus out in the snow.

  10. Its been a while, but still want to keep this thread updated for anyone interested.

This past summer I spent away from the bus. It was hard, but did get a short visit home with it.

Before I got home, a friend agreed to take it to the Dub Show, a local VW show for me. Here it is with his bus:

    At the show, looking rough:

Got home and had to address some issues from a long rough winter. Wanted to spend a day cleaning it up so it looked ok for the short time I had with it:

    Ugh:

  11. Hate to see it this way, but its for a good cause. Painted wheels, bumper, grille, clean caps, few touch ups:

Stripped the bumper, the rest of the parts got a quick scuff and coat of paint:

    Thats better:

    Gave it a good cleaning:

Didn't get much time with it, but I did drive it as much as I could.

  12. Aircooled visit to the local Ronald McDonald House. Unfortunately kids weren't available this year to check them out, but we did make our Dub Show donation:

Tucked away, yet again. Pretty amazing that after all these years and Newfoundland winters, the shelter is still doing its job:

Hopefully next summer I get more time with it.

A nice update on you and your VW. We need more pictures of places in Newfoundland that you go with your bus.

  16. Thanks, hopefully this summer Ill get to have a few good trips in it.

Had a little visit home over Christmas, and took advantage of the mild weather to take the bus out.

My gf came down with me from Ontario for the holiday and finally got to meet the bus, after listening to me go on and on about it for months.

    Giving her the tour:

She hopped behind the wheel for a cruise. Little tricky for someone only 5'1" but she handled it fine. Even got her "bus lean" on:

Then I got back to my favorite place to be, behind the wheel:

  17. Took a scenic drive and may have gotten a little stuck:

Luckily my brother came to the rescue and pulled the bus out:

    Few more bus pics:

Then back to its shelter for a while until I get back home this summer. Really hoping to get the kitchen functional and do some camping.

    How's the snow this year?

  19. Pretty mild while I was home, big change from last year, but it has gotten a lot worse over the winter.

Always wanted a 1 ball shift knob for the bus, found a few for free so Im going to try drilling this to fit when Im home.
