Here we have for sale Wilma, our 1975 VW Devon Eurovette Campervan. The curent mileage is just over 74500 miles and she has benefitted from a NEW LAURIE PETTITT ENGINE on 31/01/04 - according to the mots which we have here we have worked out that since the engine was replaced she has covered just over 10k miles so barely run in!

We have a selection of old MOTs and the logbook is present and registered to me. Road tax expires at the end of Dec 2011 and the MOT expires on June 28th 2012. When we took Wilma for her MOT in June she only failed on the windscreen washer system no other advisories (See photo) This was then fixed and a fresh MOT given.

Since we have had the van we have replaced the passenger seat belt with a brand new Securon 500/45 belt, fixings and buckle - This was fitted on Sat 15th Oct this year. We have replaced the fuel pump, and replaced some parts for the drivers side door mirror and 2 heater cables. Amongst the many receipts that we inherited from previous owners she has also had a replacement front panel, arches, section of guttering and partial cab floor grafted in. There are no holes in the floor ANYWHERE! Please have a look at the 56 photos I have provided for you to see the quality of the work that has been carried out. At some stage the bus has been repainted in british racing green and pastel white (Believed to be enamel paint which is used to paint marine objects - very very hardwearing and rustproofs at the same time) , a 1L tin of the green paint is provided for the next owner.

In the cab there are new step rubbers, a genuine rubber floor mat which covers the whole cab floor (including the walkthrough), the seats have been replaced at some stage with unknown items. Quite bizarrely the FUEL GUAGE WORKS on this one. Anyone who knows these vehicles will tell you that these NEVER work! Im not going to make out it is as accurate as fuel guages in modern cars but at least you will know when you are going to run out of petrol rather than just guessing like every other bus owner! I picked up a new EMPI gear stick at this years Volksworld show and this works perfectly - no more stirring that bowl of soup looking for first gear! A previous ower has fitted a VDO oil temp guage and dipstick as well as a clock which is fitted in the console next to the speedo. The windscreen is clear with no cracks or chips. In between the seats is an original devon buddy seat with storage underneath, this is removeable and very sought after as many owners have removed them over the years so they can use the walkthrough. I was told by the previous owner that the front doors were imported from california. The sundrenched jaffa paint and quaterlight windows (Who needs AC when you have these!) support this. The doors are rust free.

Underneath the paint the van is solid. Not the straightest bus you will ever see but SOLID none the less - bring your magnet when you come to view! If we were to keep Wilma we would rub her down and smooth her off a bit before giving her a quick repaint and she would look a million dollars. The engine lid is good, that tailgate is good, the sliding door is good. The sliding door cover is a bit rusty but this screws on so can be replaced in minutes - no bodywork required. By the OSR wheel arch some of the repair section is cracked but could be easily replaced - the other arches are spot on.

UNDERNEATH IS WHERE THIS GIRL SHINES, which is good as many people see this as being a deciding factor when making a purchasing decision. Please take a good look at the photos provided - youd better had seeing as I went to the trouble of taking off the belly pan so you can see how tidy she is ;) The whole underneath has been coated in a waxy black substance at some stage, very similar to waxoyl. This stuff has done its job amazingly well so I wish i knew what is was as I want some for my MK1 Polo! Again, bring along your magnet and give her a once over. None of the other buses we looked at were this SOLID.

Interior wise we have a full original DEVON EUROVETTE interior. Rock and roll bed with storage underneath, overhead locker, gas hobs and grill with storage for 2 gas bottles underneath (bottles included in sale) ( the cooker unit is fully removable so you can cook in your awning or whatever should you not want to cook in the van), table with 5 legs, rear facing seat with built in wardrobe and underseat storage. The fridge is fitted but disconnected so no idea if this works. The sink is in good condition. As you can see from the photos I have changed the flooring for some old lino that I had lying around. This is because I was using Wilma as a changing room when i went surfing and didnt want the salt water to get under the carpet - The original carpet tiles are included too. All of the cushions are original Devon items, some in better condition than others but overall pretty good and with much more character than many a retrimmed camper! What you cant see in the photos is the over-engine cushion which is used when sleeping, this is present but currently uncovered, the material makes an appearance on eBay occasionally but i always seem to miss it! Also above the engine is a good spare wheel and tyre, this has been covered with an army issue backpack cover as it looks nicer

Engine. As previously mentioned the engine was replaced with a LAURIE PETTITT (VW engine building legend) 1600cc twinport engine at approx 63k miles in 2004. The current mileage is 74500 miles so the engine has done just over 10k miles in 7 years. Plenty of life left in this one! The fuel pump is new this year too as are the fuel lines. Fitted with electronic ignition she never fails to start. All tinware is present and correct.

Also included in the sale is a haynes-style manual, a genuine vw parts catalogue from the 90s (pointless but nice to have!), a camper cover and bag, new clutch cable, new accelerator cable, new bulbs and fuses and a new cigarette lighter i purchased for the sat nav and then forgot i had bought! A proper old school 1970s windbreak and pegs, collapsable water carrier, solar shower (both new this summer) and because we are feeling generous you can have the bucket, spade and frisbee!

On top of this we have a Just Kampers roof rack and a vintage Desmo roof rack which has been modified to fit a bus. The dakine surf board pads come with them too but not the surf board shown in one of the pics.

All in all a very nice solid bus with a decent engine and not needing bodywork. She is ready to use as she was intended. Viewings welcome pretty much any time, best to call me on 07825 649710 - if I dont answer please send a text as i dont use voicemail. If you need to email me im mistapringles@yahoo.co.uk

I still regret selling my first bus 10 years ago but my desire to start my own business means the old girl has to go.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy the pics!

The camper is on the Isle of wight - I can meet anyone who comes to view from the mainland at any of the ferry ports! (come on its only 20 minutes from Portsmouth or Southampton by boat!) Why not make a day of it :)

    Price is £6500
