  1. For sale - our 1973 VW baywindow camper ‘Meg’. Tax free and with 11 months MOT.

Full bodywork restoration in 2007 with new panels and VW Tangerine Pearl / Cloud White paint. The restoration was carried out at a classic car specialist and took almost 18 months! Hence the body is in very good condition including underneath. All new rubbers and window seals fitted during the restoration.

Brakes upgraded to incorporate a VW servo on the front discs. This gives powerful stopping power where required. Rear drums overhauled in 2017 with all new parts. Goodrich braided hoses on all 4 corners.

Suspension upgraded with adjustable front beam, stiffer front anti-roll-bar and Gaz shocks on all 4 corners. Front suspension currently set lower than standard, rear at standard height.

Wheels are a matching set of 5 period-correct Wolfrace Slotmags. Tyres are Bridgestone all round.

Interior was originally a Devon Caravette but now fitted with a custom interior by Custom Classic & Retro. Includes a rock and roll bed and cooker unit. Cabinets and flooring in oak, seats trimmed in vinyl and velour. New genuine VW headliner. All locks refurbished and use the same key. Full custom billet stainless steel handles on doors and cabinets.

Fully sorted standard electrical system, with no faults. Everything works as it should.

Separate auxiliary electrical system with second battery (split charge) and mains charging system. LED interior lights and stereo run from this system.

Alpine/Pioneer/Rockford Fosgate stereo system with remote control, hidden V12 amplifier and 10” subwoofer integrated with the oak interior.

1776 engine painstakingly built in 2010 to provide reliable performance. Details include:
New genuine magnesium AS41 case with full flow oil system and Scat deep sump.
Fully dynamically balanced CB Performance cromoly forged counterweighted 69mm crank.
Forged VW flywheel, 8 dowelled and balanced with the crank.
Engle W100 cam, with CB Performance straight cut gears.
    Scat I-beam cromoly pushrods.
Manton cromoly pushrods with CB Performance Big Foot lifters and Pro-Comp rockers.
    Mahle 90.5mm forged pistons.
Balanced and flowed 041 cylinder heads by AJ Sims with single racing springs and stainless valves (3-angle job).

Bosch 009 distributor with Pertronix electronic ignition.
Lucas Sport coil with Taylor Spiro-Pro leads.
Stainless single quiet pack exhaust with stainless J-tubes.
There have never been any issues with this engine, which has done about 1500 miles since the build (and has regular oil changes in this period).

Sale will include the Kyham awning pictured in the camping photo, and a vintage cooler matching the interior.

Bus is located in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey.

  4. Thanks for your replies guys... to be honest we’re gutted to be selling her. We’ve owned her since 2002 and have put so much into her, it’s heartbreaking!
But my work is relocating us and we can’t take her, I think she should get used by someone... not sit in a garage.
    Anyway thanks again.
