  1. New headlights going in as its a 1973 I only have a wiring diagram for 1972 & 1971 both different, but have managed with both for most of the new loom install.

My set-up is same as 1971 with the Grey Wire into the headlight for the side light, (see photo of wires) does the Brown wire coming out the head light connector connect to the body in the head light dome for earth? as the sidelight connectors have 2 x male connections.

  2. Brown should be an earth yes

  3. It was just because the sidelight connector have two spades but must just use either.

  4. Get them the right way round, or you may be blowing sidelight fuses. One should be connected to earth.

The sidelight holder should be plastic - insulated, so either way round.

If you ever need them, there is a fairly complete set of wiring diagrams over on the Samba.com. under Technical .

  7. I can read the standard wiring diagram but cannot read the attached 1972 type.

Pass. Without seeing all the wiring I'd be guessing. It's simple though, you can work it out.

Think this is one, so looks like only use one of the spades (either) and they all connected and one ground connection. #ithink

  12. You've got to look at the plug. One spade terminal goes to the central brass conductor which supplies the insulated central terminal on the bulb. This is the positive supply. The other goes to outer metal part of the bulb, and when you put the plug and bulb back in the outer metal part of the plug makes contact with the metal of the headlamp reflector, which is negative. It's easy to get it wrong and when you do the fuse will blow (no 2 I think) which will also affect the other front side light and the right rear lights and number plate too.
