1600cc type 1 engine idle jet

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 14platoon, Apr 24, 2017.

  1. Hello
    1600cc single carb standard engine
Idle jet is messing around (cheap jet) and the engine won't hold an idle, cuts out at every stop. Cleaned the jet and all was well but now messing around again. I'm going to change the idle jet and out a fuel filter in.
    Question 1
How many turns in on the new idle jet, I'm assuming it will be different amount of turns to the old one?
    Question 2
Which way does the arrow on the fuel filter go,mounting towards the carb I'm assuming?
    Thanks

This is a brilliant guide to getting you PICT 34-3 set up. Idle screw is usually 2 1/2 turns as a base set up. BTW, I am assumimg you mean the idle screw not the idle jet.

Yes the arrow on the filter points to the carb.

  3. Idle solenoid working?

  5. Thanks, I'm looking for the large idle jet settings on the side of the carb. The volume and mixture are already set, just need to replace the idle jet.

  6. Just testing ;)

  7. The settings for the idle screw (and throttle stop screw) should be in the notes above. Set it so the engine roughly idles, let the carb/engine warm up, then tweak the mixture.
