...a popular series from the 70's or 80's without googling it, and describe it here? Here are mine: Eastenders - some old boy dead in a chair, few of them break in, then nearly 40 years of utter misery. Magnum P.I. - for some reason trying to break into the Lodge whilst evading Higgin's Dobermans. Knight Rider - man with leather jacket get's shot in the mush - then does a Luke Skywalker and comes back with a whole new face, same huge hair and leather jacket.
It Ain’t Arf Hot Mum. The Gunner who Sgt Major Shuttup at some point will come to believe is his son is writing a letter home to his mum from the jungle in Burma (?) and uses that very phrase I think Edit: it was Half, not Arf. It was gunner Parkin who was writing the letter home. Sure it wasn’t particularly PC but I liked it. Well, who cares, I still like it If you watch it, it pretty much made jokes at the expense of everyone.
Eastenders ….. yes Coronation Street…yes Emmerdale….yes Brookside …. yes Elderado …….yes When some of these were on, I was working 9-5 and busy building an extension…. must have had better time management back then
Eastenders …. Doctor finds old person dead in a chair. Coronation Street… old person sits on chair in corner shop. Elderado …. foreign apartment complex….young girl in wheelchair. Struggling with Emerdale (farm) and Brookside …. don’t think chairs of any sort featured much.
Crossroads: Yam yam bloke in wheelchair. Royal Coronation: Bloke sits in magic chair while attended to by archbishop wearing a frock.
Can't remember what I was doing 5 minutes ago, let alone 40 years back. 01 811 8055, the Swap Shop telephone number just lurched out of the cobweb festooned memory bank for no good reason, so there you go.
I do remember a certain TV series that revolved around macaroons and a lovely new sink for the downstairs toilet.
Coronation street 1960 - during a break from my O level homework - 3 Old ladies are sat in a pub drinking milk stout - then Albert comes in a says that his nephew has got into uni and wants to be a teacher - meanwhile their neighbour is dusting the ducks on the wall up the stairs and is contemplating having a "murial".
I saw something about that Eldorado soap opera on Spanish TV Developers are apparently building a hotel and fitness spa or something on the old purpose built film set near Coín , I bet you really wanted to know that didn’t you
We used to watch it because for a while we would go down to Fuengirola to the parent-in-laws apartment as a holiday.
I can’t remember the first episode, but can anyone remember that soap called Triangle? Like a rubbish Eastenders, but on a ferry..?
There was also Howard's Way. Basically like Triangle, 90% involved people shouting at each other in a ship's cabin or a Portakabin, with outdoot shots taken of ferries or yachts separating the shouting match featuring a middle aged angry woman and her shouty husband.. Did you know that every yacht featured on Howard's Way either sank or capsized . The last survivor was the Laser 28, "Flying Fish" that was rammed and sank many years after the series ended.. I was in the same race when it happened but nowhere near the incident. The owner was able to salvage it and get it back sailing but they never raced it again..
