My Turbo Thomas quiet pack is one of the noisiest exhausts I have ever had the pleasure of shouting over.
The term “quiet pack” is a bit misleading isn’t it… but vintage cheese exhausts are bit shouty at revs as well aren’t they…. And the gaskets fall apart in no time… hmmm
Many years ago I had a twin quiet pack which seemed very serene. Unhappily it was made by the empys & lasted for about five minutes. I replaced it with a Bluebird SS header & a Supertrapp which was OK until the discs blew out, I replaced it with the TT item above. The silencer has been on for almost ten years & the manifold the thick end of twenty.
If you want a quiet silencer fit an ernst standard silencer. Decent quality and should last. If you want one with a bit of a grunt fit a Vintage speed
I would go standard every time if it was me, but the owner doesn’t like to see a rusty silencer under the bumper, which is fair enough. The ideal scenario would be a standard silencer made of stainless.. It seems everyone is out of stock of vintage speed exhausts at the moment anyway
CSP? VS look great, and some of them at TE sound really good, but, to me, they have a weird connection for the heaters
Yes, but, in reality, better than monkey metal, and, in real terms, probably what we used to pay for stuff 20 odd years ago, and it actually lasted.
It’s about 5 years since I purchased one so not sure if they are still available. Just checked purchase history it was from JK in 2017, but they may have changed supplier since then.
