Hello guitar loving people, I know you're out there.... but apart from @Jack Tatty @Terrordales and @zedders I can't remember who else gets all dreamy eyed over the likes of Fender and Gibson. Anyhow, I digress.... So, one of my great friends - well her husband actually, lost his father a year or two ago and is slowly undertaking the monumental job of clearing all the afore-mentioned father's stuff. Mother is still alive, but in early stages of dementia so is just as likely to give it all to house clearance if Steve doesn't do the job first. His father was a great collector of Banjos and Guitars. Good ones, I'm led to believe. Obviously they all need to be sold. So my question is thus: Does anyone here actually have an interest in buying guitars, and would anyone be interested in having first dibs on anything? I should say at this point, there are many. And I have no idea how this would work. But I'd hate for them all to go off to a dealer, if there was anything that would make a member of TLB go "oooooooh I've always wanted one of those" and now it's too late. Anyhow, just thought I'd ask.
I have an interest in buying lots of guitars, however after consulting MrsNtfc it's not going to happen
That's a very thoughtful of you, it is hard to break up a parent's prize collection of desirable things. Unfortunately I'm not a good enough player to warrant a decent guitar! Good luck with finding good homes for them though, I'm sure that they'll be suitable people on here.
I would be interested in hearing what’s available! I’m told that we have no room for more guitars at home, and I’m not especially flush at the minute, but a boy can dream.. and I do have some pallets at work that could hide things…
I know Steve has begun taking photos of individual guitars, so I'll get him to email them to me (with any background that he knows of). He did show me a couple of pictures last time we met, but all I remember are a couple of old 1950s Hofner semi acoustics, and something that was a limited edition made by a famous guitar player. I'm useless at this, but it's worth a go! As said, they're not mine - and they aren't currently in the house of my friends either - so this might be a slightly protracted process.
Not mushroom on a boat so I limit myself to just the one, but if he had a short scale bass I might be interested...
I think there might be a Hofner violin style a la Paul MacCartney, but other than that.... I’ll message and get him to email me some photos when he’s got a mo.
I have that problem, with several different collections of many varied, and to what most people would consider, weird Marmite, but not guitars, thankfully
Apart from your Hofner bass Sarah , I’m not in the market for any guitars apart from maybe a Strat..... I have a lovely 90s Strat, but it has a maple fingerboard. I would love to have a Strat with a) a rosewood fingerboard, and b) the larger 70s style headstock. Has to have both those things mind. If it’s Sunburst too so much the better but fingerboard and headstock non negotiable
I’ll ask, you never know! I think they are heading back down to visit mother over half term, so more photos and info can be gathered then.
Thats the line I use when mrs Dubs questions the need for multiple vw’s… I don’t know if it will work for guitars as well
