Due to uber humid night I took off to the spare room to sleep. Firstly I was awoken by impressive lightening, which I like so got up to look for a bit then went back to bed Secondly I was awoken by Sarah coming in as she doesn’t like storms Thirdly I was awoken by my cat jumping all over and scratching my face as she went by Fourthly I was awoken by my cat making horrible miaows. As I was wrong side for my phone and the lamp I couldn’t see why. I had to wake Sarah to get her to put the lamp on to see what was the matter Fifthly I had to get up and go out the back in the altogether holding the little bat that must have come in from the storm and my cat had been chasing!! The good news is - I put little bat on a garden chair and Sarah gave me a dressing gown and a cuppa. I watched for a bit then thought maybe it had died but could still feel it trembling so put it in a box to put under the garden table to recuperate and out of the rain. as I put it in the box it started flapping a bit but I wasn’t sure if it’s wing was damaged. I ripped One side of the box as didn’t know how bats take off. I went in and drank my tea then back out to check on it. It had moved to the now open bit of the box and while I watched it took off, just quite low at first then circled above the hedge, then above the roof and flew off down the road A fab result . It was the tiniest thing. I’ve rescued little mice etc from my cat before but this was by far the most delicate. It’s wings were big once it was flying. I think it was a Noctule bat.
Mine was awful. I’ve had three hours. One it was too hot and two, some bellend in the street that backs on to mine decided to allow their large dog to bark in the garden fro 12-3am despite everyone having their windows open.
Slept like a log. Although, yesterday, I was digging out broken fence posts, in this heat. Great for detox!
Pretty bad up here, storm went on for 5 hours, lots of landslides, flooded roads, schools closed etc. Never heard rain like that this far North, more like a tropical storm.
Ha ha @matty and @Pudelwagen That is actually a good thing as my customers will probably just think I had to drop onto an urgent job I could cleverly solve swiftly! that, or I’m chatting in the plumbers merchants!
Apologies for drifting the thread back towards its title, but the quality of my sleep has improved dramatically since I stopped drinking at the beginning of lockdown. This is bitter dissapoint.
