As a tradesperson of a certain age, Radio 2 is my go to station I have on all day at work. Popmaster = tea break time Did anyone else hear the talk about the Scottish weather man who predicted the weather that helped the D Day landings? An old chap called Peter rang in who was there on a destroyer. When it came to describing the fleet leaving the UK he bacame v emotional and couldn’t really speak. Cue the tears on my behalf!! Did anyone else hear it?
And the couple who's friends made a secret Facebook group, And raised money for ivf treatment have now had a child..
Yes - just heard it - it must have been such a traumatic time - seeing all that going on and watching people being killed - no wonder he got emotional .
And I was crying this morning while watching the Jeremy Kyle show, the drug dealing benefits cheat with no teeth had a DNA test and was the father,
Blimey, you're a big girl........Oh hang on. I got something in my eye at the start of the children's film "up"
Onions don’t make me cry , but seeing someone win something that’s put their life into it has been known too .
Oh my word @paneuropaul id forgotten about that!! That was a dry hiccup sob sort of film!! Or....... remember the Lassie when she ended up staying with an old boy living in a caravan. He got robbed and his little dog killed. Each time I see it I cry earlier as I know what is coming!!! That ones stayed with me over 40 yrs!!
Yes, but you're a girly type with feelings and stuff, where I, apparently have the emotional range of a wooden spoon. Never really a Lassie watcher, now Skippy, he knew how dangerous well's were
You and me both . @Merlin Cat, I switched R2 on just as Paddy O’Connell was doing the bit about D Day and the weather man. Really interesting stuff. I didn’t hear the caller Peter sadly. Tbh, I try and avoid Jezza like the plague, although, RIP Jezza’s dad . I do like Paddy O’Connell subbing for him though.
@Jack Tatty I think Jezza annoys me until Vanessa Feltz stands in for him. My desire to shout at the radio ramps to new highs when she’s on!
Reading a nurse’s war diary atm. Blimey them cocker knee types had it tough. Coventry has a a couple of really bad nights, but London, gosh, from the hospital point of view it’s unbelievable!
THIS! a million times THIS! ...and does Elaine Paige on sunday make you feel stabby too? or is that just me?
She is one person I would love to punch even though I consider myself a gentleman. Each time she laughs .......
I used to get annoyed because the latest batch of young lads at work re-tuned the radio off Radio 2 and onto Radio 1..... now apart from Ken Bruce, there’s really not much I miss!! Even my clock radio in the morning gets punched into snooze mode because Vanessa Feltz annoys me so much. And don’t even start me on Chris Evans
That stupid flipping girly laugh like she’s about 12 does my head in also! how about you @Ermintrude? I like the show tho.
The drive time show with Simon Salad Cream and Jo Wiley Coyote is pants too. The best stuff on R2 is mostly in the evening anyway. R4 is my goto really (apart the bloody Archers....)
