Recently I had a young lady pull out on in front of me and decide that she'd not really bother accelerating away. BUMP! Straight into the back of her. She apologised and admitted liability etc. Got claim through and she's now saying I ran into the back of her - said she'd slowed down to let someone out and I just ran into the back of her. The insurance companies were going for a 50/50 as it was my word against hers. So downloaded the video from my carcam and that was the end of that! No NCD loss, no increased premium and no £250 excess to pay thanks to this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005Q6CJI4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Only a tenner and an SD card is about a fiver - got one for car and one for camper now.
That was a good investment! Carcams seem to have plummeted in price since the last time I looked at them last year.
Yeah it fits on the mount you get with it - pull the power lead out and either remove the mount or unscrew the camera. Mine was £20 last year so these have dropped a lot
now is the time for me to get one, I have sl0 on my number plate and everyone is always cutting me up. I have had far to much of this and was thinking the other day how much one would cost. So thank you for the link and I am ordering one or mybe two, have one in the bus
Check for phone apps - there are ones out there if you have a smartphone - all you need is a mount then.
To be honest I think insurance company's should give one away free with all new policies. How much it would cost them and the potential savings they could save from all the scams. Think it would promote safer driving if people knew they had a chance off being recorded.
I have one, i leave it mounted but unplug it, some have movement detection so by leaving it i hope its an extra deterrent
it will be on its way along with black boxes, admiral insurance, have a phone app that can moniter your driving so reducing your premium...or increasing it !!
linky winky woo... http://www.confused.com/press/releases/confused-com-rewards-good-driving-with-a-new-mobile-phone-app
Trust me the video you get from this is fine - the people who are slagging these off are pillocks who are expecting HD quality from a ten quid camera. These will carry hours and hours of footage - if something happens you can leave it running until you get home and download it.
