I'm pretty new to all this (only done 2 batches so far) but I think I read somewhere that you just sprinkle without stirring...
Inspired by reading this thread again, I've finally just started off my Woodford Wherry kit. Just waiting for the temperature to drop a bit before I put the yeast in.
Bit of a disaster this weekend brew wise with the pump getting jammed twice and having to be dismantled while 50Ltrs of beer were still in the copper. On the plus side we have finally used our hop back which should give the beer the hoppy taste we are looking for. Will know for sure in about 3 weeks time.
Im pacing like an expectant father.. My wherry should be ready by now but it is still a little cloudy and its three days overdue. I made a booboo when I put it in the barrel, it was in there for two days then I remembered I hadnt added the sugar, doh. It was volcanic when I did add it. I extended the due date to make allowance for my goof so it should be ok by now but as I say its still cloudy, dont taste bad though. D'ya reckon it will clear folks.
That will please the Mrs, I have an old plastic dog basket I can use instead.Must try a bit more before I do that though.
Bottling my Woodford Wherry today. Though I forgot I need sugar for it, so will have to nip out and get some.
Bottling done. The few tastes I've had so far (when doing the final gravity readings) are very promising, so looking froward to it being properly ready. Shame I didn't start it in time to take to Skegvegas next weekend. We've still got a few bottles of the last stuff left though (John Bull London Porter) so we're not completely beerless! I must get a bit better organised and plan ahead in future!
Yup thats about right Think i got about 5 pints in before i had to pause before i passed through a door way lol Proper wall magnet stuff
Well the wherry has all gone, took a while to clear but that was sorted with Lord Charles' top tip involving a towel and some water. I have decided to try a Cerveza for a change, its gone in the barrel tonight. Not my tipple of choice but what the hey. I shall get another ale on in the next week or so.
