Got my rebuilt type 4 engine back from Paul Weeding yesterday. It's now a 2056cc motor with replacement case due to a 'small' crack in the original case! Paul's done a fantastic job and it bears no resemblance to the oil and dust covered leaky lump I sent up on a pallet. It's come back gleaming and all ready to be installed tomorrow The powder coating and air box clean up and paint really make it look superb. Lots of nice little touches as well like the SS coil clamp - I thought I was fussy but I think Paul is just as particular A few further changes to make:- SS sports exhaust and a CB performance set of Weber 40 IDF's to go on as well. Very excited about driving it again and seeing how well it goes. Be nice not to leave a 'bread crumb' trail of oil up the road now!!
Cheers Paul. Picked up 5L of 15/40 multi grade today and I have the battery on charge ready for a good bit of cranking! I'll get some pictures up once it is installed.
She's in !! And running:- Exhaust is blowing a bit on the one side but otherwise it's good. Next job is to get the bits of VW out of my eyes and book a rolling road session next week to setup the carbs properly....
I wasn't happy with the first exhaust - it was way too quiet! So have just had this system made up. Sounds soooo much better. All run in now after the trip to Ninove and back! It's going on the rolling road on Wednesday to get rid of a slight hesitation around 55-60mph mark.
