It's coming up MOT time, and whilst tyres may well be the least of its worries, I thought I should make the effort...

And nothing says 'MOT Pass' like showing a car is loved, right?!

Sadly we're not celebrating the pass, just hoping it might look like a pass on the day...

  9. Which is when? Surely they wouldn't dare fail a Volvo?

I've acquired a Rock and Roll bed for the Vi***ro. I'm the 3rd owner and it's never been installed, both previous owners intended on converting their vans but changed their minds. It's fully certified and was made in 2022, I also picked up a brand new never been erected awning that was purchased for £475 at the same time . I paid £500 for the pair, very pleased. The plan is to weld in some spreader plates and M12 nuts to the floor of the van so that I can pop it in and out as required. I'm now feeling motivated to crack on with it now.

March 24th. It'll get all dirty again by then I know, but I've got to go to a funeral in Cornwall this coming Thursday, so I thought a good cleaning was in order sooner rather than later.
What will be will be, but I fear the dreaded need for welding may be upon us this time. Poor Walter. He's only just clocked over 200,000 miles, and I was hoping for at least 100,000 more.....

    I intend to.
I'd get Clem welded without a thought, so I have to at least consider this 'future classic' ;)

My V40 estate developed a very expensive head issue so I sold it on, loved that car. I’m presuming yours is the V40?

yep, the 'facelift' version - Volvo's V40 equivalent of the crossover :)
I had a '99 first, which I managed to crack the block on when the thermostat developed a leak and I failed to notice until it was too late. I loved that car, but it was harder to find a replacement engine for the older Mk1 version, so I sold it and bought Walter... an '02 plate custom build, with all the super lux gadgets, and the wrong colour insides (the metallic red should have a horrible light tan interior, but mine is black) It's a great car, but sadly the tin worm is doing its worst. I should junk it and buy something else, but I'm sentimentally attached to the original V40s, and it's getting harder to find one that isn't as wrecked as mine. I do keep an eye out, just in case though....
I guess we'll see what's what on MOT day :(

  19. Volvos often develop a fault in the Herring Injection. Can be expensive to fix.
