Pacemakers and large induction magnets are not compatible .... or at least that was what my Mum was told when she had one fitted.
Something about a magnetic field disrupting the way the pacemaker monitors what it monitors. I just remember having to put in a standard hob when I refitted their kitchen for them ... and subsequently also in our "Airbnb" in case guests had pacemakers.

  3. This is true. Large magnetic fields can in theory affect pacemakers. Would you want to take a chance?

  5. Im still waiting for clarification if I can mig weld or not but it’s looking unlikely.
If I do get zapped by the Icd then I loose my driving license for 6 months to two years.

The future is going to be very different for me
The genetic problem degrades muscles which is what’s knackered my heart
The last couple of years I’ve been having problems with other muscles and it affecting my mobility and strength
It’s taken over a year to even get a neurologist appointment and that’s not until march.
Unfortunately if it is that that’s got into other muscles there’s no cure and it will keep degrading and I’ll end up in a wheelchair .

Keep your pecker up mate. I'm sure all the waiting doesn't help but try not to dwell on it. We always fear the worst but sometimes the outcome is the better end of the scale too. Best of luck tomorrow.

Just a quick point - when they come in with the stockings to stop blood clots - its not nearly as exciting as I'd....er....someone else told me they'd imagined putting them on.

The paper pants things - make sure you find them on day one after the opp - I found mine 3 days later by accident, properly embedded in butt crack they were.

  14. They haven’t told me about any of that
Maybe it’s because I’m going to be awake whilst they do it
They did tell me that there’s a tv screen they can put above me so I can watch what they are doing:eek:

I was able to watch on a screen when they did my angiogram. Fascinating. When I had the by-pass (double by-pass, King of all the by-passes :D), I wished I’d asked the surgeon to video it for me. How often do you get to see your chest cut open and your heart stopped? :)

Good luck for tomorrow Para

  18. The exciting part is when he pulls out a set of Halfords jump leads to get it going again...
