    We've been testing having the cat on Heather's lap or one of the front seats for shorter journiers. Longer journeys and we have a big foldaway pen so that she doesn't decide to hide down near the drivers footwell whilst on the motorway.

    I once had a £150000 computer at Philips Research Labs do that. It was the size of a washing machine back in the 1980s.
    It blew up one of three redundant power supplies, its 13 amp mains fuse and plug was smoking merrily, while the computer carried on running.
    We had it on evaluation from Hewlett-Packard.
    Didnt help the mains voltage was 260 volts. We did not buy it - it was HP PA -RISC based and cost ten times as much for twice the performance compared with a Motorola 68040 workstation..
