There was an alarming amount of caravans there. No wonder the government tried to legislate to stop another one.
I think I can only see two VW campers in the main picture - plenty more Transits A sad day when they brought in the CJA .
We set out for the Solstice eve to visit the sacred site The bill said that's illegal as we gathered through the night We marveled at the sacred stones, we didn't come to fight You could hear the screams a mile away As they dragged us from the site We tried our best to make a stand, we didn't want to move When the Laws are stacked against you You're always going to lose, and And they call this criminal justice Tell me where did we go wrong Divide and conquer was their weapon But together we are strong Criminal Justice Bill '1994' Illegal gatherings and their eviction laws Eviction laws
I’m not on the side of the CJA , but who cleaned up after Castlemorton? I don’t know myself. Did the attendees do the clean up? Were there loos and other facilities for folk to manage their litter and waste?
Probably not, but that’s why the later raves I mention, became legal. Universe, Fantazia etc. Unfortunatly, they became turf wars for the large inner city drug gangs. Raves became a dark, dangerous place after around 1994.
And 30 years ago today the New York Yankees played their 4th straight extra inning game Whatever that means
30 years ago I was here. @Jack Tatty I suspect someone else had to clear up all the mess left by those soap dodging hippies.
Of course I'd remind the hon gentleman that 10 years before this there had not been much swanning around the Falklands and 31 years ago was in a minefield. The meals of course varied in quality and quantity ... I believe the cheesey hammy eggy and corn beef pot mess featured more than one might like.
The law was based on lifestyles. Those in power looked down on those whose lifestyles didn't fit into what they called 'normal' or acceptable in their eyes. Yes, some of the events that took place caused damage and that is not acceptable, but on the whole the law was set up against lifestyles of people who wanted to escape the rat race, four walls and the political ideals of those in power.
I agree. Unless you fell into a certain category, you were shunned. No different to Hitler and the Jews, Gypsies,Coloureds, in fact, anyone that didn’t fall in to the way he wanted people. ( Obviously not so bad, etc, etc, before anyone starts…).
30 years ago I was trying to recover from a major recession or was that the depression Unfortunately I had to let the some people go House keeper Cook Butler Chamber maid Window cleaner Car valet Driver Gardeners Mistress and the other one Etc etc etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I remember going to the Stonehenge festival, the rubbish and burnt out cars left on the site, and something very unpleasant to see inside one of them, A lot of the fence posts were taken for firewood There was a lot of damage to the wheat and barley crops .
Yep, and what reward do you get from living a conventional life? Get rinsed by the powerful corporations for every aspect of your life, from driving a car to feeding yourself. And now the energy cap is expected to be raised about £800 in the autumn. But the Chancellor who is in the top wealth band of the UK wont profit tax them because we have to put business first. Welcome to the return of peasant life........
I wonder what the next 30 years will bring, Unfortunately there is still a large proportion of people in the uk who are still going to vote for self harm, People moaning and still voting Tory .
