Its the Never Ending Story. Its best off still in pieces. It arrived without no1 cylinder firing but that wasnt the no3 cylinder that is not to be mentioned.

 

I thought they’d traced it back to those missing seals, or was it more serious than that?

 

Theres still a funny on No1. It never fired, or rather disconnecting the plug made no noticeable difference, even though it wasnt supposed to be the cylinder with the leak issue.. Its wet with oil inside but no scoring on the piston bore.

 

The other common thread at TE was dual carburettors with blocked idle jets , and loads of fiddling with throttle plates so it was sort of running on the mains .. followed by finding the jets (baby Dells ) and then blowing them clean. Then rebalancing the carburettors, and resetting the idle mix.
Many people spent time in traffic queues so I suppose the idle jets were handling more fuel flow on the way to TE.
