I'll get some sort of list and some more pictures when I can. As said, the guitars aren't mine and I have no direct access to them - but my friends will be visiting them over the half term week so I should have some more info after that. This thread was really to gauge interest, and whilst I think most of the collection is probably too obscure or too rare for most, there might be something in there that could find a new home through TLB. That said, I have absolutely no idea what any prices would be and those decisions aren't mine anyway. But I'll pass on any info that I get.
Sarah, my "collection" was reduced to "nil point" some years back, so any six or twelve string acoustic or semi-acoustic would be of interest How do you think a try-out would work?
Yeah, I think it's provenance is well known to my friends, it just happened to be one of the few initial photos that I was sent yesterday (I did have to google George Elliott when I was told it was his 'No 1' guitar) As I've said, the guitars aren't mine, I just started the thread on behalf of a friend to gauge any interest in the one's that aren't 'a museum piece'. I'm sure they will be seen and valued professionally, and sold accordingly. In my experience, not every collection consists solely of pieces that are rarer than a Westie Crumpet Toaster, there will always be the parts that are less valuable than others. It certainly sounds like a Strat or two might be able to find potential new homes here, if there happen to be any.
I'd love to see them but I may have trouble explaining more to Ms.T .......................................... she still doesn't know about the Gibson mandolin I've put a bid on.
I've read similar books and completely agree My playing days where cut very short when my daughter picked my old fender knock off and was playing in less than a day.... I've never been so angry, happy, proud all in one emotion. I gave up soon after head hung in shame. She cannot win me at thumby wars so at least I've still got something to be proud of. It's the little things
Well you wouldn't want quality if it's hardcore Punk you are playing....i remember buying a sunburst Whinfield Audition guitar from woolworths sounded brill for garage punk .
