I’d certainly be interested in seeing what’s available. when I built my guitar rack last year I counted the gaps incorrectly and ended up with on extra space.... how very silly of me!! bit of an offset Fender fanboy tho!
So far I’ve got two pictures; apparently they fall into three catagories: Rare / collectible / old / obscure such as George Elliot’s own personal guitar Relatively modern: and I’m not sure what the third category is, as the last initial email hasn’t appeared yet but I’m assuming somewhere in between.
Blimey. They don’t look cheap. I’d seriously suggest he takes them off to a specialist auction house to have them properly valued, rather than selling them off to his mates…
Puts me in mind of ye olde nightmare that when you die your beloved sells all your VWs/guitars for what you told her you'd paid for them.
They're emotive things guitars and in the right hands can make wonderful noises. I only play rhythm guitar and have tried the expensive ones over the years but the only one I play and gig with now is an old Yamaha that I bought for £30 and cut the centre pickup out because I kept hitting it. It's perfectly balanced, has an amazing action, it's lightweight, sounds good and stays in tune when I'm bashing out the Sex Pistols on it. I wouldn't swap it for anything.
I've bought cars and motorcycles on eBay... Then sent Mrs B a picture saying.. oops I may have won this.. Make sure she's out, for many hours before sending.. She's relatively calm by the time we meet.....
Yeah, definitely.... and I’m sure that’s what will happen to most of them.... especially all the banjos (a much more niche market I imagine!), but Steve is very keen that they should be at least seen / offered to people who would enjoy them- if there is anything suitable. It does seem that most are interested in Strats, and I’ve no idea if there are any in the collection, .....but no harm in talking about guitars for a bit. And you never know, they might not all be rare.
I have a good friend who collects guitars mate, I’d be interested in seeing a list / pix if poss. If you need help pricing them too…
Nowt wrong with that. Just saying some of these things fetch quite ridiculous prices for their “rarity” value, and the average punter may not know how “rare” they are.
60s/70s/even 80's guitar prices have gone mental, particularly in the states. Even a 9.99 Woolworths guitar commands £5-700 these days. I know not why as they are truly awful. So don't look at a shonky one and sell it for £50.
Nice LP. That acoustic is a beauty. Never seen one like that before and I’ve seen a lot of guitars over the years.
Hi I play in a band and have a studio at home so would be definitely interested in the guitars but not the banjos can you send me a list or photos if poss my email is ian.morrison44@sky.com cheers
