what’s the cladding and colour you’re using? have a dormer for a customer that’s having anthracite windows and that combo looks good.

 

Most of my photos, by definition, are of process, and therefore of unfinished stuff, but at least I've finished the inside of the Airbnb garage conversion (re-built the garage from scratch in 2004 as a workshop and studio, so had to do some spatial gymnastics to make it work as a holiday let) ... "Eco" credentials are
1) repurposing existing structures
2) no transport of footings waste off site
3) minimal use of power tools
4) fittings, frames and doors etc about 90% reclaim or Freecycle
5) massively insulated with a combination of Freecycle celotex type boards ... and hemp!
6) low tech heat recovery system taking heat off the roof in Spring and Summer, for delivery to the slab in Autumn and Winter (long story ... Footings periphery insulated down to 2m etc etc)
7) designed to last us until we're carried out in boxes, and to be reconfigured easily for future families ...

So this is of the front ...
Note the lovely asbestos slates and shoddy dormer waiting to be removed and replaced, and beginnings of timber scaffolding ... New bit is to the left. Garage to the right. "Chiminea" on the rebuilt stack was a mistake and will be gone some day. Ground floor facelift was scary. Never rendered before, and this had EWI on it as well
Lots of new technical stuff to learn first, and the professional who did the new bit was a hard act to follow (and too pricey to get back for the facelift)
Hoping to be done externally by the end of August!

 

Used Cedral co5 clic system, don’t do it the way I have do it the standard orientation, mine took 3 times as long and couldn’t find any others at the time that were vertical, blooming nightmare

 

Mud mud you want mud, bloody plenty of it, so far had over 2000 tons of red mud away,?thankfully been dry lately
