I have been offered a small Sprite 400 caravan that has sat unused in a dry garage for years .I guess it is from the 60s or 70s judging by the funky curtains . I have had a brief look online and difficult to work out if they are collectable or have any real value ? Any ideas ??
So you're looking to sell it or refurb ?? Despite what you might think they're becoming de-regeur at vintage festivals so a good dry one to restore might fetch a few hundred or a nicely restored period one with gas lanterns etc a few grand, it all depends on the model and year . Worst scenario being you cant sell and get stuck with it rotting on the driveway ... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Purely a buy and sell exercise .Caravan are difficult to scrap nowadays and although my place of work has a very large yard to store all my junk I do not fancy having to deal with it at a later date .I think I will go in with a low offer and see what happens ? Thanks for advice and will get some pics if I am successful .
I`m sure there`ll be an owners club or website . Like i say it`ll be crap getting stuck with a 50 quid caravan which is probably why you see the chassis used for trailer frames ...
I was given this earlier in the year. Plan is to tidy it up, get everything working .it’s an early 80’s
I didn't really pay much attention to it as I was in the process of buying a car from the owner and it was next to the car in a very cluttered and dimly lit garage .I think it was like this .
Try buying one , anything over 40 years old is fetching silly money . People are latching onto the fact unmolested `vintage` stuff is getting harder to find and will get even harder as time marches on . I think what we , as seasoned campaigners see things that used to be thrown away in the `70s/80s and scrapped in our youth is suddenly become rediculously expensive . The `80s were 40 years ago folks ..
I think there is some company in Poland building new ones. I did read recently you can buy new (not recon) Escort Mk 1 and 2 bodyshells and they will even make you a completely new MK2 car .
Very similar to one I had, purchased for £140.00 ,few quid spent on a freshen up, used for a couple of years then sold it for a grand. I hated towing but loved using/kipping in it.

They also built those lovely old VW camper vans in Brazil , doesn`t mean they were as good as the originals though does it ?? Anything repro is just that - a repro .
Maybe I should finally get around to re chassis-ing the Series 2A I have stashed around the house and garden in bits.
Okay if you could go back in time and tell yourself something what would it be ?[/QUOTE] Don`t get married , just buy a barn and keep all my old cars and bikes
