Is that the bizarre event whereby people drive around the world's biggest carpark? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes!
Looks like it didn’t appeal to the miserable masses!! https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/m25-run-the-ring.65429/ https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/run-the-ring-m25.73253/
Considering the paucity of shows and the ever shrinking opportunities to show off your ride I expected it to be full of TLB members. Any who it was brilliant with some absolutely superb machines doing something good for a deserved cause. I can't wait for us to be released from the dreaded virus and attend more get togethers ...dub life!!
Was that the video I saw of a convoy of builders vans and a couple of convertible (new) Beetles? Sorry, I just don't get why anyone would want to drive round the M25. IMHO the whole idea is pointless.
Good point just thought about that...I'm not sure I would stand up in a room full of leather clad men and declare I'm a ringer
Different in the late 80's when the rich city boys in their porkers would race around it...but not anymore, chuffing big car park.
Exactly. The idea of a cruise somewhere works, if the end goal is somewhere worth going to. This is just driving around one of the most polluted and congested roads on earth. For that reason, I'm out!
I understand it's not for everyone but we are newbies. It's like when the wife gets a new set of dd's..u just want to show them off and have folk go wow look at those beauties
Go to the beach then, or a nice campsite? Or the mountains? Dales? Basically, anywhere but the bloody M25!
Much as i applaud efforts to raise money for good causes, and before anyone asks yes i have already made a donation to the papyrus charity, i can't help think that the charity would have benefitted more if folks had just stayed at home and donated whatever they would have spent on fuel? The just giving page is showing just under £4k donated right now. i read somewhere that there were 900 (?) vehicles involved. If they've all used say 25 quids worth of fuel, that would have been c£22k.? Personally i hate the m25 so this event doesn't appeal. don't get me started on the carbon footprint..
I love how this is romanticised by calling the M25 'the ring'. What a terrible way to burn hundreds or maybe even thousands of litres of petrol. Drive somewhere nice FFS
btw - heres the link in case anyone else wants to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/amandaculley
I reckon it’s better to let them clog up the m25, then a road to somewhere nice! Granted, I wouldn’t be saying that if I had the misfortune of having to use the m25 that day, but I don’t, which is nice.
By the way @Ian Starbuck , you can ignore us as we are all old miserable gits that shake our fists at clouds, and can remember when it was all just fields round here...
