Hi folks this has been bugging me. T2 K reg Bay with a hole in the tinware. Just above exhaust so I’m guessing letting in heat. Also raised moulding either side of the air hoses that seem obsolete. Can I replace with https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/ac119543a-tinware-over-exhaust-with-air-hose-holes-black.html Or https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/ac119543-tinware-over-exhaust-standard-black.html Or another?? Thanks in advance.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The big hole should have a pipe going to the air filter to draw warm air in when cold, the other holes should have pre heat pipes going down from the manifold ?
This ^^^ And and probably a non standard air filter if you're missing the pre heat pipe above the exhaust ?? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Its where the pipe meets the heat exchanger pod on a single carb model Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
You possibly have some nice original tin, never seen with the plate that covers the heat risers, most new ones are a stamped out hole Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Ahh Thats a great photo - Guessing that's the pre heat pipe too? Thanks a lot - really appreciate it. So I can get tinware without the holes??
Yes thats the pipe that would have connected , yup if running twins with blanking plates, heres mine showing Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk
Great looking engine.... I think I'll blank off the preheat - I read 2 bean tin lids will do for now.... thanks for sharing
I also need a blanking plate or similar for this hole, if anyone knows where to get them or knows something that fits in the hole?
I had to replace my engine tin 3 years ago because of rust.Managed to get a good second hand original to replace it - bu I have original oil filter so kept the holes .
Use a hole saw and cut a couple of round discs from steel/ally and bolt them together either side of the hole.
Some, include @snotty and me, have made a little plate bolted through the existing fixings to fill that hole https://www.thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/preheat-pipe-hole.89100/#post-1719998
