You should really have one balance pipe on the manifold,on the single port of the manifold before it split to 2 ports.
It would be better. I don’t know why CB performance designed the manifolds with the ports opposite the inlet ports. I suppose linking all four ports would be the best compromise. I know the original Solex design was much better and the tapping was on the inside of the manifolds so the connecting pipe was shorter.
Zooming in on the original image on my laptop, 6.35mm which may have come with the manifold / air filter kit. We have connections as follows: lhs to servo lhs to rhs balance pipe rhs blanked off with a blanking plug right hand carburettor side vacuum take off goes to the vac on the distributer lhs carb vac take off blanked off if that helps
You can get unions with a 12mm ID to go into the manifolds from advanced fluid solutions. https://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/brass-male-bspt-x-barbed-hose-tail-fittings-177-c.asp
..that’s the first thing off I would do in ur case..Many moons ago I got a cheap engine (a bus engine) for my beetle to run it while mine was being rebuilt..it got me throuh the season but ran like pos..the reason was low compresion..as long as I remember it was about 80psi..it was just impossible to get it idling with no shaking..so give it more time/miles and check it all again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Have done about 30 miles on a few short runs. I am hoping i can still bed the rings in & I haven’t glazed the bores. Have found this info on ring break in. Wish i had read this before driving it https://www.enginebuildermag.com/2018/05/how-to-break-in-your-piston-rings-the-right-way/
You’re reading to much and worrying, drive it, HARD for a while, you will not have glazed the bores in 30 miles
..yeah exacty this..drive like you stole it..the key is imho once your rings are bedded in and your compression is decent then you can take some further investigations but with your compression at the mo your vacuum is pretty low at idle Im pretty sure about that Wysłane z iPad za pomocą Tapatalk
Trouble is its a bit of a ‘catch22’ situation i have run it quite a bit & at idle to obtain the correct jetting. As you saw in the second video it was running rich for a bit & the plugs were black. Before I reverted to a leaner jetting Not taking it out today as pi**in down. Will take it out later this next week & give it some beans. See where we are with it.
..just remember its an air cooledtake it for good long spin as they need at least 20-30 mins of m’way drive to warm up properly..prabably even more to stabilize the proper temp..good luck and let us no Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s what I was saying in the PM. Get some load on the engine so the combustion pressure gets behind the rings to push them into the bores and it’ll be fine.
