Luckily I was in the old town. Not too bad. Stopped at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...-Stevenage_Hertfordshire_England.html?m=19905 for tapas lunch before my meeting.
After surviving Stevenage, I am going 'proper' north on Saturday. Rotherham, which I believe is somewhere near Aberdeen. I need the help of resident half-northerner @Barry Haynes in preparation. Bazza, do I need a passport? Do you have a phrase book I can borrow? Can I have your phone number in case of interpretation issues? I would ask @Lasty but I can barely understand him!
Serious question time; I have bugger all planned for Sunday except driving back to the safe haven of the south. Got Monday off work. What are must visits in the area for Sunday / Monday?
I think @Ermintrude s restorations classes are on this weekend so you maybe able to see real old fashioned norther stone cottage with cat and help the lady with some restorations and other things for a small entrance fee ?
hmmm - not quite what I am looking for (I don't know what I am looking for) Maybe I'll go to Robin Hood's Bay. Haven't been since I was a nipper (it is the ancestral home after all)
The jewel in the north world heritage site of Saltaire, of course. there's nothing in south yorkshire worth visiting so hop over to the wondrous west and i'll get the kettle on
They are lovely lovely people, here are some tips that may help you, firstly no matter how cold it gets dont I repeat don’t wear a coat or you’ll be called a soft sooothern shandy drinking barsteward, don’t tell them the cost of things in the sarf or all you’ll hear is “aw mooch” if they offer you a sandwich refuse it’ll be lard it’s disgusting, boil the water before you drink it, and for God’s sake don’t mention our Maggie Bazza Ps if you go to Barnsley don’t forget your sun hat
Rotherham..you need to ask @crossy2112 for a day pass into that Yorkshire, mine is worn out at the moment
