Hi, Okay I must be doing a very stupid mistake but here is my issue. I'm trying to replace my clutch cable. But it seems to be too long... My van is a 72, with a 6 rib gearbox and a subaru engine (should not change anything to the clutch cable set up but better be exhaustive). I'm using this cable: http://www.justkampers.com/211-798-335-clutch-cable-bundle-kit-vw-t2-bay-1971-1979.html So I've attached the new cable to the pedal: Then passing it through the cross member: Then under the under the top of the front beam: (the black thing in the middle looking newer than the rest) Then into the magic tube : (It's where the subaru engine thing might be relevant because I cannot see what's happening there as the cable is going between the radiator and the van floor. Also I need to do something about this rust seems to be surface rust only though) The cable gets out at the end of the tube to the clutch cable conduit: And to the gearbox: I've tighten the wing nut as much as I could and added a few spacers. However my cable is still way to long: This is the amount of slack I get when pulling at the front end. I'm obviously doing something wrong but cannot see where. Thanks, Jb
Is your van a left hand drive as the right hand drive ones are longer Also it looks wrong at the pedal end
AHAHAHAH! I'm so ashamed you're right thanks! tuesday_wildchild I've only been throught the guide. And not all the way to the cross shaft Yes I though I had the wrong spare on Sunday when I first tried. But double checked that. What is looking wrong?
When you redo it also fit the rubber sleeves to protect the conduit and metal tube getting crap in them.
