Has anyone a pic of how the stove/prehreat pipe attaches/positions under cylinder 2? It wasn't fitted previously but I had one stashed away I got secondhand ages ago. Maybe its fort a slightly different engine? Anyway I can't get it to sit in a way that the fixing tabs line up with anything, either exhaust isdisd in way or the under barrel tin I'd in the way.
Here's mine. The pickup end goes down the hot air exhaust hole pointing at where the thermostat goes. The two tabs attach to tinware screws (you may have to bend the end of your long tab at 90º?). I'm sure I've also seen ones with one tab that attaches to one of the no 2 exhaust studs.
Ah yeah that looks better and yes I need to do some tab bendage.however it sits pushed against the heat riser pod on my exhaust, maybe it neeneeds adjusting. Oh while I'm here, what's that little round hole next to dipstick for? I was wondering that earlier now your pic he reminded me
I have no pods, so I'm ok The hole may be for a crankcase vent tube, if you've got the "dump-it-in-the-road" version. Mine's normally bunged up with a grommet. Looking good, 'batster...keep on going ...
Did you paint the central manifold part in the end? I am trying to decide on mine at the moment too. My alternator stand was sandblasted and looks a bit rubbish so I was going to do them together with engine paint and was following this thread with interest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes idid painted it black same as tinware. Didn't do the 2 metal ends though, but kind of wish I had now but hey ho. Sat the fan housing on for a wee look
Popped the dizzy off to do up the fuel pump, noticed that the little ring on bottom of shaft (with offset key on) is very loose. Is that normal? Didnt notice it before but doesn't seem right to me?
It’s not supposed to be tight but how loose is very loose? Nice job, the engine looks good. For a type 1.
Has about 2 or 3 mm play side to side along the retaining pin, but having compared it to another diz maybe it's normal. Just one of those random things I pick up on ....
It's meant to wobble a bit from side to side to help it locate in the driveshaft, so it's fine. Don't forget your little spring!
Yeah the springs already in there. You meanb the bit that goes through tinware? Its attached to pump, mainly to remind me which is in and out !
