@rob.e, Thanks for your comment The front suspension is the lowest EZ rider kit. Tyre size is 185/50/16 in the front and 195/50/16 in the back.
Does anyone know the paint code for the wheels & bumpers on these later Westy's? @Humby , @21Window , @Fil6 , @pkrboo, @AndyC , @MorkC68 etc .... Pastel white looks too, well pastel if you know what I mean. Is it Atlas? or even the old Silver White? Maybe it is pastel white.. ...anyone know for sure?
the bumpers on Major are a creamy white, we resprayed them around four years ago. Its definitely a non standard colour on ours
L90D rings a bell, wheels were originally silver though. So just do them the same as the bumpers if you are going/staying white.
I'm not sure they were all OG silver you know. L91 is the silver chrome paint code but many were white...& I have no idea what colour the bumpers are, apart from white! L90d is quoted for bumpers but I can't find a corresponding white for the wheels. Just a thought...
According to the 'VW Transporter and Microbus Specification Guide', wheels were Cloud White L581 until the introduction of the front disc brakes needed a change of wheel design. Wheels were then standard painted Silver L91. There's a brilliant picture on page 67 showing the production line for late bays. All sorts of bus colours but all the wheels silver.
My 67 Westfalia Tin Top, OG colour, bought it over ten years ago, was the first to strip it, all panels are original that it had when built, all wheels dated 11/67..had it painted....not happy, stripped it ...had it painted again...it's been sat now for 8years so the paint should be nice and dry now......... I've just retired from my business , VW Endangered Species so it's my time now and I'm just starting to put it back together having collected a hell of a lot NOS parts to refurb. This is a stocker, top to bottom, not every ones cup of tea, but I just had to preserve this piece of VW history.
