Amen to that brother, know how you feel. Plus point is, through all the confusion you do end up learning a lot. It's possible this place is better for kids education than school. If it wasn't for all the bloody swearing.......
Chaffing the wire in the lid. Wouldn't worry me, there would have to be some serious sawing going on! But I'd rather keep the lid closed personally - neat and tidty.
probably closing the hatch on it the wire that is, wouldn't work for me as the tow bar bike rack makes it difficult to open the hatch
fair enough, tbh honest after thinking about it, id kind of decided the same, would prefer to keep the engine hatch closed.
I'm at the pondering stage still, I'm not sure where I'll put the consumer unit box, I don't want it under the bed if I can help it so I'm waiting in hope for an idea to emerge as I do other things. It's all gradually working out, it will have a place somewhere.
And the effing cable. Need a trailer for that! It's ok wrapped neatly as it came but it's going to double in packed up size after it's been used a few times I reckon.
That would predefine it's size and shape and so limit storage opportunities? It'll have to go under the bed chucked in stylee. Maybe a bag for when it's wet would be a good idea though.
I don't normally take my lead but if I do I coil you it into big coils and put it under the bed foam above the engine or in a bag on the roof rack
Well after reading this thread I won't be building in a battery charger in a hurry. This double circuit stuff has also made me worry about electrocuting myself whilst camping! Is it safe to run a 'mobile hook up cable' with built in RCD and circuit breaker from campsite hookup into van with camping fridge, oil filled rad and elec blanket? http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/mobile-mains-kit-p155317 Is it safe to run a normal household extension cable into my van and plug in an oil filled radiator and electric blanket? EG from a friend's house if sleeping on their drive Or is it better to buy an adaptor to convert the mobile camping hook up into a normal plug to use at friends houses etc? http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/maypole-230v-uk-hook-up-lead-p333685 Sorry for thread hijack!
Thanks. I don't understand the first no you gave if its ok to use it with an adaptor which you said yes to I will read the thread you linked to and hope it make sense after that!
So using my 'tent lead' with an adaptor and plugging it into household electrics is ok? (Subject to load) but using the 'tent lead' directly on a campsite is a NO NO regardless of the load, because van metal parts must be earthed within the van That p i s s e s on my idea of not bothering buying a propex and winter camping on existing hook up with a 800w oil filled radiator then!
Here you go @zed try this for size. I have just made a hook up lead and now I've ordered one of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171549959594?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
