YOUR HELP REQUIRED - VW magazine focus group

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by james peene, May 1, 2012.

  1. hmmm, Hayburner hits the shows and all of a sudden they want to do a "focus" group and ask us what we want from the mag? Too late, the horse has bolted - keep up the stirling work Ned!

  8. I just read this and am truly faltered by some of the comments. Thank you and Im so glad you like the mag :) It really means allot to every one involved.

I know one of the Camper & Bus writers, He told me before long before Hayburner was being put together that they were looking to revamp the mag and try some different ideas, So Im sure this focus group would have been held if we had come on the scene or not.

We have allot of respect for what Volksworld and Camper & Bus do, even more so now I know how hard running a magazine is. I couldn't begin to imagine the work it takes to produce C&B every month.

We never set up to be any sort of competition towards the other VW publications thats why we made it a free mag, we just wanted to give you guys something to flick through when your chilling out at a show.

Could I please ask if we could keep Hayburner out of this discussion as Im worried it will create bad blood and we so much up against us as it is.

Again thank you all your support we will try our best to keep our standards up :)

    Ned.

TBH Ned, with all respect to both Hayburner and also Camper and Bus, James came on and asked for the forums opinion - I guess honest opinions are what he has got here, its been kept clean and not got into a slanging match...thats good.

Maybe C & B has lost the way a little from its grass roots and Hayburner has brought this back into our lives & its just what everday people are looking for?

  12. total agreement , my posts on this site are "can anyone advise / help" and by golly yeah peeps weigh in with the help i"m looking for , that mag , in my opinion started out good but seems , in my opinion to have become a "look how much i spent getting my bus done by this/that co.which is coolio if thats the gig every time but for me, who no longer shells out the folding stuff , sorry , i"m "running on empty" >thou" to be fair , each to there own, it"s is only my opinion

I remember going to the one for Volksworld about 2 years ago. At that one the group was made up of mainly bus owners. If I'm honest James I've seen very little changes in the magazines over these past 2 years.

What you read above in others posts was pretty much what we all said back then. Probably the only positive thing to come of that meeting was the rebranding logo for VW Heritage. Sadly they VWH haven't been able to clone Ben

  14. I think you should start by having a Focus group made up of people from all around the country, after all it is a national publication.

No offence to those from the London area, but things do happen outside of London.

Other regions of Britain may have a slightly different opinions of VW's or other shows/events that don't get a mention otherwise.

I would suggest to all Mags, not just C&B, that a writer/photographer in many different areas of the country submitting a "regional whats going on" section would be great..

Also more Readers wives van stories and pictures,

Plus it's not like I have a full social diary during the week whilst I'm in London, no matter what crazycaver thinks!
