so what would your fav riff be...there are some great ones on here... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/art...D6/radio-2-top-100-greatest-guitar-riffs-vote
I was looking at these today....Is it me or is there no Black Sabbath on there? There's certainly Zep n Deep Purple.....I need to have another look anyway cos at first glance I thought some if them were sh*te choices
Paranoid is about half way down on the right hand side Some of the choices are a bit ropey but at least they've not just made it a rock and metal chart and included some 70's funk which tends to get overlooked for its guitar content.
So many to choose from two of my favourites Lynyard Skynard - sweet home Alabama steppenwolf -born to be wild
Glad to see that the guitar player who influenced more people than anyone else is in there - Chuck Berry.
Chuck Berry ,great choice or Carlos Santanahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzSayxVM_E0&index=36&list=RDL-5M1_DKvb0
As short repeated phase of music Ifd you google what is a riff must replies quote as an example "smoke on the water " intro Classic
If you click on art b's link at the top there is a definition of a riff. It's fairly decent definition.
For what it's worth That Lady, the Isley Bros got my vote. Fab stuff from Ernie Isley . I'd have had Scotty Moore (Elvis), Mystery Train if it had been on the list.
Not really a serious rift, but I've always liked the rift in Nirvanas song "love buzz" and also the one off of the same album "blew"
nope.... it's a base line I thought the list was hugely flawed! I'm a big Foo Fighters fan (not enough to just vote for them) but who thinks "Wheels" is a great riff song!? "Stacked Actors" is probably the most powerful riff they wrote, based on the tempo that people can comfortably pogo Anyhows... Layla will most likely win, but I voted for a song from my generation.... Seven Nation Army.
Talking of great guitarists, just read that Johnny Winter has died age 70 Here he is on OGWT playing a classic Keef riff....
simple but effective, sex pistols, pretty vacant.... makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck everytime
