Played a gig in Peterborough on Saturday that never has bands and they wanted to try it out, 2 people turned up and they left during the second set!!!!!!!! When it came to paying us they had to empty the till, have a whip round with the staff and get out the next 2 days float. Depressing really given that the week before we played to a crowd of 500.
The Troggs with Searchers on the same bill at St. Georges Hall, Guernsey, and lastly the P45s at the Pelton Arms Greenwich. Seen loads in between with the Who probably the best.
Not quite the first, but the first I could remember was a friends band called Taboom at the Horn in St Albans.... The latest was the covers band at VW Action, but the last proper band was Royal Blood at the Pompey Pyramids last January.... Baby has kinda got in the way since! I went through my collection of gig tickets a month or so ago and enjoyed recalling the gigs in between those!
known bands then i guess it would be the Buzzcocks first up around 78. I think it was but it was a confusing time! Might have been the Damned.... The Darkness... should have been the Buzzcocks again last Saturday but wasnt up to it! That would have been neat
Can't remember my first gig, but every Sunday we use to go upstairs at the Dog and Partridge to listen to the Ian Campbell Folk Band Last gig was Friday night at Moseley Folk Festival: Nizlopi, Billy Bragg and The Levellers There is quite big list for the gigs in between
My first was probably a Rock Against Racism / Anti Fascist League march in 1979. Aswad, Stiff Little Fingers and others. Latest was The Bitter Springs.
