you with the lowered buses - tape measures out again!

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by grub, Jul 24, 2013.

  1. My bus has been lowered on beam adjusters - lowered it one more notch but then when I put the KYB shocks on, it pushed the bus back up again by 1/2 inch on the front.

I have left the front anti roll bar on, which is getting lower!

So, think I need to drop id down another notch on the adjusters..

but, just wanted to know what sort of clearance people have got on their lowered bays, so if you have a lowered late bay, not tubbed, can you tell me..

    (1) what distance you have between top of tyre and wheel arch
    (2) What the lowest part of your bus is underneath and what distance you have between this and the road
    (3) whether you have any rubbing issues

Can then decide what I am going to do with mine!

    thanks peeps

The KYB's shouldn't lift it up noticeably. Are you sure they're not bottoming out? If you lower on adjusters, you need shorter shocks...

  3. Top to bottom shock mounts were 290mm - I knocked the adjuster down one notch and the bus went down 1/2 inch.

Just replaced the shocks with KYB GR2 and the bus has gone back up to 290mm shock length, i.e. the shocks have negated the one notch drop on the adjusters.

the compressed shock length is 245mm so should have around 45mm of shock travel in compression, so shouldn't be bottoming out.

I think that the default state of the gas shocks is extended so they are lifting the bus up 1/2 inch (i.e. you have to compress them to fit).

It'll go back down again when you get in. I can fully compress a pair of gas-a-just, which are firmer than GR2 just by leaning on them.
