Hi I am looking for some guidance on my wiper motor electrics.
I have four wires from my wiper motor to the wiper switch{ not inc the earth from the motor body}.these are green, black, black and grey and black and yellow. I have the same four wires on the wiper switch. I know the green is park. , the black is slow speed, the black and yellow is fast speed and the black and grey is the positive constant feed. I suspect the black and grey wire is co-joined to take a feed from the fuse box.
To the best of my knowledge the bus never had an intermittent wiper relay/function. If this is the case does anyone know what the lowest position on the switch is for???
I have tested continuity and there is continuity between the green and black wires at this low position and at park. any advice much appreciated. thanks Tom. SWITCH POSITIONS114121174.jpg SWITCH CONNECTIONS113953514.jpg

The lowest position on the switch is because the plastic bit has fallen out. Its there to tantalize you with possibilities.. Its wired exactly the same as the park position unfortunately.

I have 3D printed two parts and fitted microswitches that allowed intermittent wipe with the ( 99 relay , one flake please) in that position .. see https://www.thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/intermittent-windscreen-wipers.96057/

  4. Mike may be correct. may be an unused position that's not been blanked off with a plastic pin or somesuch.

Not unknown on the later switches to have an extra position that does nothing, because the pin's vanished. Likely used for intermittent on vans so equipped.

All my vans have had an extra down position that doesn't do anything. They've all been early or early late bays. I don't think these ever had a pin, I find it hard to credit that every one of them lost it.

    This plastic little peg…

Is normally slid into this slot and held in…

prevents the switch moving when you pull it back towards you…

There are 6 and 7 wire switches also and once you start looking into it they will give you nightmares…I’m yet to find out what the brown/white wire is for after 2 years arsing about…

Brown/white is switched earth if that helps.

Man I've chucked 2 6-wire switches in the bottom of the cupboard. I never found a proper circuit showing where brn/white went(supposed to be toggled earth).. had the solid brn as earth.
Had a bit of luck finding a 7-wire one in germany that actually matched a circuit...

Looks like the brown/ white (second wire up on the left) is actually the magic you need for the bottom position to operate the intermittent relay - on my switches I can see where the metalwork for a second wiping switch contact goes into the plastic of the switch lever and on the biscuit where all the contacts are.
I also like the micro switch instead of a valve for the washer operation ..

And a replacement for the little peg with a ramp on its end is the basis for operating my intermittent wipe micro switch. The switch I got off @Lasty had a peg in it until it vanished before my eyes..
