Do you have the standard VW fuse box? If you do, which fuse is blowing and what rating is it? And which fuse do you have the auxiliary lights connected to?

I’ll do some guessing while I wait for the end of the year.

Neither of those old relays in the footwell have anything to do with the wipers (or headlights) - one or both are for the auxiliary lights.
There is nothing wrong with the wipers.

Assuming the fuse box is connected correctly – and I know what assume means.
The auxiliary lights are supplied from fuse 10.
Fuse 10 blew when one of the relays for the auxiliary lights burnt out when the lights were switched on. And consequently, the wipers stopped working.

    What you should do:
Fit a 30amp relay for the auxiliary lights.
Change the supply to the auxiliary lights relay from fuse 10 to 9 (16amp - accessories).

Finally, find out who rewired the bus and give them a damn good talking to.

  3. It's a new loom and fuse box from these guys https://www.aircooledautoelec.com/looms

I'm going to try to sort it out with them as I'm confused to the set up.

Everything functioning again now. I will change out the 15 amp to 30amp and get a better idea of what is connected where

Their website reads well – all new this that and the other – but then they fitted two old relays joined with a tie wrap in the footwell.

If you have their blade fuse upgrade the original VW fuse numbers I mentioned earlier obviously don’t apply but surely they provided a key to the new fuse panel so you at least know what fuse is for what circuit?

  5. Agreed, their website reads well but if they fitted the electrics get them to sort out their botches. My guess is the bloke running the show isn't the bloke who fitted the tiewrapped relays ... Hopefully.
