Windscreen wash

  1. Is the windscreen washer bottle controlled by the stalk?

I know the original way is to pressurize via a foot pump but what was the original way of making it shoot the water?

I've had a bodged aftermarket inline pump on mine controlled by a switch on the dash but if i can make it stalk controllable that would be great.

  2. I think earlies had a switch on the dash and lates use the stalk. It is via a fairly crude valve. Check ratwell for picks.
I am going to replace mine with a microswitch when i get around to it.

On my late (78) with the long slim stalks you pull the right one towards you; I like the tiny dribble it creates on the windscreen, it feels authentic and nostalgic!

  4. If it's had a 12v pump bodged you may find the original stalk valve has been replaced with a microswitch so to go back you'll need to replace this also....
