  1. I'm in need of a windscreen seal. And old one, only need it to check the windscreen fit & my front clip position.

    Anyone got one knocking about?

    Carl.

  2. Just use your new one then pick it back out

Balance the screen on 5mm or so of wood/cardboard at the base of the screen - one piece towards each side about a foot or so in from the corners. You should have similar gap all round. If you try and use a seal you won't see what's going on and the seal will flop about on the screen further confusing the issue.

  4. I've an old seal lying around that I cut the lip off for trial fitting the screen- any use? At least, I think I do...

  5. Yeah we spoke about this in a pm. Will try next weekend maybe.
I was speaking to the guy who owns simpsons vw, and he said the best way was to fit the screen, if it fits.. It's ok, if it don't.. Need to re-do front clip :/.

  6. Yup! If you do let me know :)

That's all well and good, but you need to know what adjustments are needed for when you refit the front if you need to. If it's a laminated screen and too big for your too small hole, you could mark it up and get a glass place to nibble and file it down to a smaller size. Not ideal as you'd have to do the same to every subsequent windscreen you might need fitted, but would save you a whole lot of grief in the short term.

  8. Okie dokie, ply tabs it is. Yeah, I think I'll sort it properly while the bus isn't painted otherwise that would bug me lol.

  9. I know it's a *****er of a job... I hated it, but then I had to do it 3 times, and broke two windows in the process! In the end I bought a Klassicfab lower windscreen panel, folded the metal around the A-post join, made it tight. tried to fit the screen and tapped the new panel down with a hammer and chisel old screwdriver until the seal just about fitted in the recess. then marked out where it sat and cut around those lines, welded it in, bingo...
    Not pleasant though!
