Can I have some advice on windscreens please. I've had a search and found the link with advice for replacing glass, but I have a few more general questions as well. I found a 6 inch crack in the windscreen yesterday. Its not obscuring my view, so it's not desperate to do ASAP. However, do is just get this done under my insurance and pay the excess? Or do I do it myself? I'm not sure if the insurers will pay for just the screen if I fit it. I have a tinted band across the top of the screen at the moment (not stuck on, its a tinted fade on the top 6-8 inches of the screen itself) I can only find companies doing clear screens, and I assume that this is the type that Autoglass would source and fit. Any advice on where to source tinted screens? Is it worth me putting in a heated screen? I don't think the insurers would pay for this as it would be classed as better than the original. I will obviously replace the seal at the same time. Who sells the best quality rubber these days. Dont want a new screen fitted and then the seal splitting within a year. Any answers, sage advice etc would be appreciated.
If you want a heated screen just tell then that's what you already have and they will have to replace it like for like. The trick is to install all the wiring and switches and take the glass out yourself saying it was really broken and a hazard or something. But it'll look like there was a heated screen from the start. Actually that's such a good idea I'm gonna do it myself. Genius
Ahhh.. that could be a plan.......but then they will say that's an undeclared modification, refuse to pay anything and probably cancel your insurance........don't trust insurance companies
Speaking from a freezing part of the country and using my bus daily ,I would kill for a heated screen and deffo would fit one if screen needed replacing (is it Summer yet?)
There s a guy in Essex selling tinted top windscreens around 135 notes. Don't have link but could find the auction again if you need?
