  4. Went to Manchester yesterday to see the Status Quo reunion tour. Very pleasantly surprised to find that Wilco was the support act, brilliant he was too, first time I've seen him live and he didn't disappoint in any way

  7. Unfortunately terminally ill with cancer! One of the most unique bass players ever!!

  8. Unique in that he plays guitar.

    And is called Wilko Johnson.

Saw him at Bingley Festival last year, he puts on a great show.

It's hard to describe someone still gigging and putting on a good show as terminally ill.

I think the actual ill part comes and goes....he has non treatable cancer that will eventually kill him but seems to be having a great time waiting for that to happen.

You never know, his cancer might go into remission, stranger things have happened at sea!

I just think he is a true entertainer not just a bass player! But like Angus out of AC DC. Cos he is great to watch not just to listen to! :)

  11. True. he has a very unique stage style

I am a bit too young to be aware of him in his pomp - but have looked him up since Game Of Thrones.

Behind the wild eyes thing he seems a gentle soul - doesn't seem to worry about what he can't control (the cancer) only what he can (gigging and family/friends).

    Inspiring stuff.

  13. I wouldn't say he is a gentle soul, he has an edge about him. He is however a nice guy. He has done a few farewell tours and show/festival appearances now - it seems to keep him ticking over - I would be happy for him to do many years of farewell tours and shows.

  14. Was lucky enough to see the Feelgoods quite a few times and they never dissapointed, one of my fave albums is down by the Jetty. Caught Wilco playing with the remaining Blockheads in a small club a few years ago, great stuff.

Fair one - I can only go on interviews he's done lately, maybe his news has given him a new aura?

  16. Sorry about the idiotic introduction, skip to 59 seconds if you must.

This is what Wilko is all about.

  20. It was the 20th anniversary of Lee Brilleaux's death today....Dr. Feelgood do a memorial gig every year
    Here are some Brilleauxism:

On soundchecks - ''You're better off reading a book or having a sh*t.''

On Celebrity - ''I don't know how any celebrity can hang around night clubs etc. It's not for me, I'd rather go to a dog meeting.''

On leaving his solicitors job - ''It came to a point where I had no choice, but what man of 21 is going to turn down foreign travel and crumpet.''

On Barbour jackets - ''The bloke who sold it me said 'They're good for catching grouse', I said you don't get many grouse in Southend.''

Asked by Richard Skinner on live Radion One - ''So Lee, ten years on, why do you still do it, racing around the country gigging?''
Lee replied: ''Have you seen what they pay down the dole office these days?''

    Top geezer!
